GSMA, who represents the interests of the cellular industry, announced today the launch of the next set of service specifications, RCS Release 2, for the RCS Initiative (Rich Communication Suite) and also the RCS DevChallenge, a new contest for client applications developers for mobile phones and PCs.

"As an active member of GSMA RCS Initiative, Alcatel-Lucent is helping service providers to leverage the RCS Specification Release 2 to successfully meet the consumers demands for a new generation of continuous and improved services, transcending the devices and areas of the fixed and mobile telephony over Internet", said Gani Nayak, Chairman of the Division of Interactive Media and Communications Applications at Alcatel-Lucent.
